Pick a better snack
The Iowa Nutrition Network's social marketing campaign, Pick a better snackTM encourages fruit and vegetable choices for snacks. Iowa Nutrition Network partners worked together to develop Pick a better snackTM so that multiple programs could use it. Key partners include the Iowa Department of Public Health, Iowa Food Assistance, Iowa Department of Education-Team Nutrition, Iowa State University Extension, Iowans Fit for Life and the Iowa WIC Program. The campaign includes in-class lessons as well as community-based social marketing materials. Explore these pages for more information and free downloads.

Goal: We will help children eat more fruits and vegetables by increasing how often they eat fruit and vegetable snacks.
Pick A Better Snack, Sioux City
Pick A Better Snack teachers visit 12 schools in the Sioux City Community School District. With in those 12 schools they see 103 classrooms twice a month. During those visits the children learn about fruits & vegetables, exercise, and healthy living. They also receive a healthy snack at the end of each lesson of the fruit or vegetable they learned about.
