Primary audience: children Secondary audience: parents and childcare providers Goal: We will help children eat more fruits and vegetables by increasing how often they eat fruit and vegetable snacks.
Pick a better snack materials were developed by Iowa Nutrition Network partners with key contributions from ISU Extension and Iowans Fit for Life. Lessons are coordinated with monthly bingo cards featuring seasonal fruits/vegetables and physical activities.
This tool kit contains information and instructions for planning a Nutrition Adventures carnival-type event to reinforce the importance of eating fruits and vegetables and being physical active. The kit is perfect for a kick-off event, field day experience or family night and consists of the following stations: strawberry relay race, cucumber javelin throw, green pepper toss, apple toss, melon weight lifting, MyPyramid race, potato race, coconut bowling, and vegetable mystery game.
